Randall Library Emergency Structural Repair

During a regular facility condition assessment of the Randall Library, UNCW discovered severe corrosion of structural members supporting the library entrance. Atlas Engineering was brought in to assess the severity of the damage and to design the structural repairs. During the assessment, Atlas discovered that a lack of waterproofing for the structure’s perimeter was the root cause of the corrosion. Atlas designed structural and waterproofing repairs to prevent future corrosion. Services included structural reinforcing and supplemental members in an active building and waterproofing repairs to prevent future building deterioration.

This project was a highlighted project at the NC Chapter of the International Concrete Repair Institute's (ICRI) Fall 2015 Convention.
