We design upgrades and repairs for existing infrastructure. We help make facilities safe, dry, up-to-date, and fully operational. Atlas Engineering provides expertise in structural, building envelope, roofing, waterproofing, and site hardscape. Our typical clients operate large buildings, labs, or industrial sites, and they include federal and state/local governments, universities, and hospital and pharmaceutical sites. We also have specialized qualifications in damage assessment and emergency response. We have been in business in Raleigh, NC for 25 years. We are an SBA Small Business and hold a federal GSA on-call consulting contract.
Atlas Engineering was founded in 1996 and offered structural and civil design services in central North Carolina. With the addition of experts in roof design and building envelope, our firm began serving universities, state and local governments, and industrial clients. Over the last ten years we have worked increasingly with federal agencies, school systems, labs, and pharmaceutical facilities. We have an excellent reputation and roughly 90% of our work is for repeat clients and referrals.
The Atlas Engineering staff includes both registered professional engineers (PE) and registered roof consultants (RRC), all of whom specialize in various aspects of the overall building system. Our expertise includes:
- Structural, civil, and architectural engineering
- Building envelope and roofing design – IIBEC-Registered Roof Consultants
- Facility condition surveys and damage assessment
- Cost, repair, and renovation studies and budgets
- Repair design – structural, building envelope, and site civil
- Construction administration and inspection
- Disaster response/emergency engineering support
We believe in fostering an ethical and service-oriented culture within the broader engineering community. From the very beginning, Atlas Engineering has worked to better our community through the repair and improvement of the local infrastructure. Sustainability comes in many forms, and to us it means repurposing and refurbishing the existing buildings we’ve all come to know and love. Additionally, communication in our field is critical and we believe in providing the best quality product and services to our clients. To that end, each of our clients and projects is under the personal care of one of our principal owners - the engineer you talk to at the start of the project will be your primary contact until your project is complete. This helps foster a trusting and honest relationship.
To us, social responsibility means that businesses should act in a manner that benefits the community in which they do business. Since our expertise lies in the very infrastructure that holds our community together, our engineers choose to serve during public emergencies whenever the surrounding infrastructure is adversely affected. Several of our staff serve as urban search and rescue (USAR) engineers for both state and federal (FEMA) USAR teams, and we also help train state and local emergency services in collapse rescue operations. From hurricanes at the coast to earthquakes to construction disasters, our engineers have provided critical life-saving knowledge to the State of North Carolina and beyond.
