Building J Roof Replacement

Johnston Community College - Public Safety Services | Smithfield, NC

PROJECT DETAILS

The Public Safety Building is located on the main campus of Johnston Community College off College Road, Smithfield, NC. Originally constructed in 2007, the 28,000 square feet roof is a low slope fully adhered single ply membrane over mechanically fastened rigid insulation. The owner wanted the whole roof replaced, but keep the original insulation.

Atlas conducted preliminary and investigative site visits. We took all the necessary measurements, recorder all of the existing conditions, took several roof cores for asbestos testing, and performed infrared study on existing roof. All that information was used during the design phase. Later, Atlas provided the client with base bid documents, which included construction drawings, project manual, and proposed cost estimate, considering client's budget in mind.

After the client had a chance to review the base bid documents, Atlas assisted with the project bidding process, i.e. advertised the project, kept in contact with interested contractors, conducted pre-bid meeting and bid opening, and awarded a contractor with bid.

After the bid was awarded, Atlas worked closely with the chosen contractor ensuring that the contractor fully understands proposed scope of work and reviewing material submittals.

During the construction, Atlas regularly came out on site to observe and record the construction progress and address any concerns or questions that came from the owner or the contractor. Atlas issued regular site visit reports to the client and contractor.

During the final stages, Atlas came out to observe finished installation, record any incomplete scope of work or issues, provide this information to the owner, and work with the contractor to finish any left over scope of work items or issues.

Finally, Atlas helped the owner with close out process.
