Kinston State Veterans Home Roof Replacement

N.C. Department of Military & Veterans Affairs | Kinston, NC

PROJECT DETAILS

Due to frequent roof leakage, Kinston SVH hired Atlas Engineering to come up with roof replacement design. Atlas conducted a study in 2018, determining areas of leakage, type of structural support, and other various details such as existing gutters, downspouts, roof vent pipes, and mechanical equipment. Taking all that into consideration, Atlas has designed new standing seam metal roof system that was going to provide complete watertightness, adequate run off compliance, and good overall appearance. The exterior appearance of the roof was an important aspect for the client, which Atlas took into account during the design and construction. In construction, Atlas worked closely with the contractor, Triangle Roofing Services (TRS), to ensure the new roof was installed per design and to provide guidance in cases where original design was not feasible due to unforeseen existing conditions. In addition, multiple areas of original roof deck and trusses were damaged due to water intrusion. These areas were repaired. Overall, TRS were doing a good and fast job. The few delays due to global material shortage pushed the dead line into 2023, however that has not caused any major inconveniences to the client.
