Wake Forest Elementary School Replacement of Roof and Trusses

Wake Forest Elementary School’s gym, built in 1927, had roof trusses showing significant deflection and damage, creating the potential for a roof collapse. Atlas Engineering was called in to assess the damage, develop a shoring plan to stabilize the existing trusses, and design the necessary repairs. This included the replacement of trusses and repairing building envelope damage.

Atlas provided full-time on-site monitoring during the installation of the shoring to monitor structural conditions and to provide engineering input as required to adjust for field conditions. Atlas was able to mobilize quickly and efficiently to solve issues created by poor repair jobs in the past, which had culminated in a dangerous situation for the school. The Owner was pleased with the outcome and the expertise and attention to detail provided.
